I haven't updated in a long long time... and while this isn't the only amazing thing I've seen and knew I had to post... it's the first to get my fingers back to typing and taking the time to save on my blog. MayAnn Licudine, aka Mall, is an incredible artist from the Philippines whose work I first saw on the Gallery Nucleus website last year. I've been following her blog and work ever since... and she continues to bring me goosebumps of awe and wonder. Such lovely, bright, fun, happy colors and subjects all worthy of their own story-books.

Process and Admiration

When it comes to painting skills, Mark Ryden has them beyond the average human. I've been a long time admirer of this talented artist's abilities and unique perspectives on visual story-telling. He's been copied many many times so if you feel you've seen this subject matter and style before... it's true. I guess copying is the sincerest form of flattery. I only wish less people would accept it as being okay.

Mark had an opening in NYC this weekend that several artist friends were able to attend in-person. I'm rather envious, but hoping when I travel there in 2 weeks I can view the work for myself. yay! NYC, stop flaunting all your wares... I'm ready for you already!

Delightfully talented, snazzy dresser and smooth dancer, Martin is the cat's meow! I first met Martin a couple years ago at Comic Con in San Diego and his work is ever increasingly refined and wonderful. Martin has a piece in the Three Apples show I attended at Royal/T. Below is his handsome mug along with his amazing painting titled, "Once Upon A Kitty Wedding".

And it was so much fun running into this lovely lady on Saturday night. I was invited to a little get-together at Lola's and met some wonderful, fun and creative people.

The only downfalls were

1) I missed the GB opening at JANM, which was incredible from what I hear and

2) It took me 2 hours to drive back to where I was staying due to highway 101 and 110 being closed... the only major arteries going to where I needed to be. I don't know LA and finding my way through side streets which were also blocked often was a little frustrating, especially at 3 am :(

BUT I made it back and now I'm in SD again, trying to catch up and also get some great ideas onto paper and into people's hands for my next curating adventure! YAY! LA!

I Finally Took a Drink and It's Quite Refreshing

I was cautious but then felt the power of "Change" and "Hope" which is exactly what my country needs. The fact that a candidate could inspire so many to support him in such positive and refreshing ways, you cannot deny that this is an amazing time and we need more uplifting influences. Never before have I seen so many come together and pour their hearts out in as many creative ways as this Presidential election.
