Xiong Mao Bao Bao by Mall

Yoka from Mall on Vimeo.

I haven't updated in a long long time... and while this isn't the only amazing thing I've seen and knew I had to post... it's the first to get my fingers back to typing and taking the time to save on my blog. MayAnn Licudine, aka Mall, is an incredible artist from the Philippines whose work I first saw on the Gallery Nucleus website last year. I've been following her blog and work ever since... and she continues to bring me goosebumps of awe and wonder. Such lovely, bright, fun, happy colors and subjects all worthy of their own story-books.

How amazing is the above video she created too??? wow! She is a girl of multi-talents... check out Mall's Flickr to be inspired. :)

Process and Admiration

When it comes to painting skills, Mark Ryden has them beyond the average human. I've been a long time admirer of this talented artist's abilities and unique perspectives on visual story-telling. He's been copied many many times so if you feel you've seen this subject matter and style before... it's true. I guess copying is the sincerest form of flattery. I only wish less people would accept it as being okay.

Mark had an opening in NYC this weekend that several artist friends were able to attend in-person. I'm rather envious, but hoping when I travel there in 2 weeks I can view the work for myself. yay! NYC, stop flaunting all your wares... I'm ready for you already!

My personal souvenir of Mr. Ryden can be found here: Yearbook Drawing by Mark Ryden

The Secret of Kells

It's not often I'm tempted by a movie trailer to spend a handful of cash to sit in a crowded room with usually too loud speakers blaring... but for this I might just make an exception. Looks pretty amazing. Love when art and films collide.

☞ UPDATE: I saw, I loved and I recommend! ♥

Darn (därn).

I didn't win getting one of my designs put onto socks, 10 free pairs of socks or cash, but I had fun playing sock designer for a day. Congratulations to the winners!

Hide and Go Sleep

I couldn't resist posting this 'cat nap'. Other bloggers have their children to post and well... I have my cats... thank you for understanding. Have a wonderful day and may you enjoy many cat naps and pleasant daydreams.

Smell the Love

Since I'm posting so close to Vday, thought I'd throw out these smellicious designs I created for my client, Snifty® - "Nifty Scented Pens".

"Love" the Write Way... ha ha.
Now go out and buy them for all your loved ones so I can continue to work with such a fun product. :D

Passion Pit-Sleepyhead from ssarenofun1 on Vimeo.

I posted this before, or maybe only on Facebook... LOVE this song by Passion Pit, "Sleepyhead". Before today I had only seen the one thumpin' video and now I discovered the awesome one above... These guys have more fun than you can shake a stick at.

A place to keep favorite items that I wouldn't mind showing up at my front door. This is not a hint, just an on-going list so I can remember my favorite finds. If you choose to use as shopping suggestions for future birthdays (Feb. 23) or special occasions (Jan - Dec) I certainly can't stop you. :)

Every issue and a subscription would make my century!

*Henry's sells large size too! UPDATE: I found at Costco, 'ells ya!

UPDATE: A brilliant boy and awesome crocheter
gave me this book for my birthday, it's even more wonderful than
I could have imagined! Thank you, JK. You made my day (and evening too, yay! Donuts!).

[Buttloads of books I've come across
and now suddenly can't find...
to be updated soon... hopefully.]

What A Difference A Day Makes or "Black Is The New Happy!"

Last Saturday I was pouty (not really, but for dramatic effects I worked the look) and red/dk blonde; This Saturday I'm peppy and dark dark brown (okay, black, but who's really analyzing). Just catching everyone up. :)

I think this may be happening at night in my own kitchen. I knew some "good" would happen by leaving everything to nature.

Haiti Earthquake 1/12/10

I researched a little and found Direct Relief International to be honorable and use donations efficiently. The heavily posted codes for texting donations from cell phones may have delayed availability for charities (90 days) due to billing processing procedures. Article HERE.

Night with Kipper

Monday night I stayed at a friend/client's home and not only is it a lovely place but the visit included my own personal bed buddy, Kipper. I'm pretty smitten.

Dare Mighty Things

Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat. - Theodore Roosevelt

Thank you, Natalie at Dearest Pan, thank you! (I hope it's okay I reposted, it was just too important not to.)
