Okimiyage: A Parting Gift or Remembrance

Pressure Printing and Audrey Kawasaki have really outdone themselves. If it were not for the volatile economy I might just be willing to spend $1500 for this amazing intaglio entitled "Okimiyage". So if all my friends and relatives and any one else wanting to all go in on an early birthday present for next year... now you know where to look. There are only 50 prints and I expect they'll go quicker than a bunny's blink.

Also, there's a wonderful 12-page spread on Audrey in July's Juxtapoz written by Katie Zuppann that's less interview and more observance, it's a really nice read and the images... INCREDIBLE.

I Like Free Fonts

Don't get me wrong, not all (free) fonts are created equal. There are some real doosies out there that should never be spelling out any proper words, so when I come across a font I can actually imagine using, YAY! Yay for BB Petie Boy. It reminds me a bit of Edward Gorey's handdrawn lettering and I've alway had a soft spot for typefaces rendered in the rough/sketch style, showing the human hand behind the creation.

Speaking of Edward Gorey, I came across another free font based on the lettering he uses in his dark but wonderfully surreal and sad stories.

The two fonts below were found through NOTCOT.org, via box vox, via Autobahn who created the typefaces by rather unconventional methods. I don't think I will be using either one of these anytime soon but I appreciate the work that went into them. very cool. You can find the free downloads for "Freshfonts" here.

Living In The Present

Bringing myself back to 2008, I came across this transcendental new tune by Mates of State. Sit back and enjoy a 3.5 minute break for the day. :)

New Wave All The Way

does this date me? (I love how the tape inside the cassette changes sides slowly as the music is played, ahh just like the orginal, only now you can skip ahead to the next song with greater proficiency and the tape never wears, gotta love technology)

Office Politics

My "office" in the corner of my living room.

Luckily, there's little (office politics). Most self-discussions are about staying in my corner to pseudo work, taking a nap or getting some real work completed at the local coffee shop. I will not share which option wins most.

Belly Dancing Trance

An unexpected mesmerizing dance of a belly, sword, scarves and snakes greeted me at the witching hour Friday. Later that night, in my dreams she danced just for me. Still can't get her face out of my head. She had the crowd spellbound and she knew it.
